Restoran Seng Kee @ Chinatown, Petaling Street, KL

Meant to put these pics up a week ago. And I'd been holding off until today. LOL.
Anyway, will keep it short this time. Pictures of dinner session to go... minimal words. Enjoy : )

Must-snap menu (not to show you the food price, but to show you the name of the restaurant... we never knew it's called Seng Kee until that very day I snapped this photo).

Hokkien-Mee. Ordinary.

Apparently, for some reasons, I learned that we ordered this for the love of Ryan's must-order-fried-rice practice. I haven't asked him why yet. : )

Claypot Loh She Fun. Best-seller of this restaurant. But heard that quality's been deteriorating since don't know when.

We ordered some yong liu to go with too. Fu Cuk, my favourite within the portion. :D

Leafy greens. (For a healthy balanced diet, konon..)

Partner-in-crime. Left - Ryan [a born joker], right - Kellie. Don't ask me why he's scratching his head, thinking of how to eat his Lo She Fun. Candid ma...

Ermm... New found kawan, we call him Ah Lin (haha) but already kena 'pijak' until like dunno wat. [Another born joker].

Chin Chin posing nicely (already not candid lor like that... haha) to show she's enjoying the food.
Had a fun time bloating our stomachs full. With lots of wind. Effect of laughing too much. Too many jokes at the dinner table to swallow. Haha.

Of Love Dramas & Love Songs

There's just something about love dramas and Liang Jin Ru's (梁静茹) love songs that clicked and go together so well. When you watch a certain sad love scene in the drama, and the voices of the acclaimed Queen of Love Songs find its way through the background, it often feels like the moment of that scene fits the puzzle melancholicly sad, yet in a very thoughtfully nice way. And these are the times throughout the drama you'd feel your tear ducts start flooding your watery eyes... 'coz you're touched deep down to the bottom of your heart. Funny enough that, her songs are even nicer to listen to after you've got that drama scenes playing in your head.
These are two of the very recent songs of hers, that were featured and incorporated into two fairly new dramas.

Of drama no. 1 : 幸福的抉擇 I do
Theme song : 属于 (Shu Yu) by Liang Jin Ru (梁静茹)

Of drama no. 2 : 败犬女王 (Defeated Queen)
Theme song : 情歌 (Qing Ge) by Liang Jin Ru (梁静茹)

BY2 - 我知道

We tried singing this song at a recent karaoke session! Haha. (But tak jadi la, of couse, who are we kidding). Anyway, enjoy this song by the pair of young and talented twins from Singapore. Only 17, and already successful with their 2nd album to date.

The Hazy Effect

With the seasonal haze that is already becoming an annual affair here, a lot of people has started getting the sick bugs. Added with the recent H1N1 scare, many of us are becoming more and more conscious with how we're treating our bodies. I happen to have pictures to show you how bad the air quality was a week ago.

This was taken months back. This is how the city looks like on a usual clear day. You can clearly see the KLCC Twin Towers on the far left view, KL tower in the middle.

And this, was how the view looked like a week ago. You could barely see what lit up the city skyline. All you could see were shadowy figures.

I hope the air quality will not be deteriorate and worsen in the next few days. Good thing there's been occasional downpour thoughout the last few days of the week.

Preciousss..

Let me share with you some very precious photos of mine. Hehe.

Now, THIS is Sher Lin at 3 years old...
(I know I know, the photos look very old-school, yellow-ish lagi.. haha)

(Actually I can't quite remember how old was I when this was taken... probably 3 or 4 years of age la..)
-enter-
(But this, I know la.. Very obvious, just count the candles. =D )

-enter-
And then, fast-track xxx years later, THIS is how Sher Lin looks like now.
(Nope, I'm not letting you count the candles in this one, duhh.. then you'd know my age. Haha)
-enter-
So... the question to you now would be.. "Can recognise ah?", "Got similarity or not?"
"WHICH ONE CUTER?!" haha!
-enter-
Wait. On second thoughts, don't answer that 3rd question, I think I know the answer...

Alternative Investment: Marrying a Millionaire

Days ago, my attention was caught by the headline above on CNN's website. I'm capturing the news article plus the video, to share with all of you. It's a rather, erm.. controversial topic. Haha. But you're welcome (and encouraged) to drop your two cents here on comments. : )

Alternative Investment: Marrying a Millionaire

HONG KONG, China – My colleague Ali Velshi likes to say that there are three ways to secure your financial future – by winning the lottery, marrying a millionaire, or managing your finances. Managing your finances would appear to be most practical – unless, of course, you are a student of Ms. Lisa Johnson Mandell.

Lisa is an American dating guru. She recently held a class in Hong Kong giving tips based on her book “How To Snare A Millionaire.” Snagging a sugar daddy is one of the best investment decisions you can make, she assured me. She should know, she said, because she is married to one. She has had 50 marriage proposals – at least a dozen of the men came with seven-figure salaries, she told the room of aspiring spouses.
So how do you snare a millionaire?
This is the advice she gave to the 98 women and two men in attendance. (Well, more like one man – the other fled the meeting during the first break. The poor guy didn’t know what he had signed up for.)

Do’s
1. Be the prize. Lisa suggests women wear bright-colored dresses and walk around in "power” (read: stiletto) heels. Men were programmed to hunt, she says.

2. Be approachable. While walking, make eye contact and smile. When interested in someone sitting across a room, think (but don’t say aloud), “Oh, baby, oh, baby, you are the hottest thing I have ever seen, and we need each other bad.” If you can do that (without snorting your drink with laughter), supposedly like a tractor beam, your target will wander over and ask, “Excuse me, did we just have a moment?”

3. Be at the right place, at the right time. To Lisa, that means hang out where the rich boys are — cigar bars, full-service apartments, bar areas at expensive steak restaurants, posh hotel lobbies.

Don’t’s
1. Don’t talk too much. On the first date, no mention of children, former lovers, emotional hang-ups, the state of your finances or his. Don’t prattle on about the finer details of your overqualified resume – he might be inclined to hire you, rather than date you.

2. Don’t be nervous. Exude confidence. If you don’t know what to talk about — don’t. Ask him more questions about himself, Lisa says. He’ll think you understand him even more.
Don’t jump in the sack. She says most women would want to sleep with a millionaire right away. So you need to play hard to get.

Lisa cannot quantify how successful her advice is and admits that it could sound mercenary. However, she blames the stigma on society’s double standards.

Men and women were wired, she believes, to behave this way. “From the cave man days way back when, we had to mate with the men who were the most successful.” Those would be the best hunters, she explained to me. “These days that kind of success often equates to wealth.” She says men, in turn, are engineered to pursue beautiful women because beauty indicates good health.

“Nobody looks askance at men because they want a beautiful wife,” she points out. “But if you say, ‘Go out and find a rich husband’, it sounds awful.”

What she preaches, she says, is different from gold-digging. Gold-diggers are women who “want to separate the man from his money,” Lisa explains.

“Someone who wants to marry a successful man is just normal.”
True, perhaps, though not all women define success in terms of dollars.

Small 'Lil Baby Donuts

While everyone goes ga-ga about Krispy Kreme these days, I decided I should give J Co [check out its interactive official webpage] another chance. Hehe. So I headed down to Pavilion to get these small little baby donuts. These little babies are new additions to the Indonesian-based brand of the hit delicacies. I find 'em cute little things very colourful, so I'm adding 'em into my blog. Haha. Here goes..

A box of it comes with 24 pcs of little baby donuts.

And for the record, I'm still giving J Co's assorted flavours thumbs-up. I love the mint one in particular. =D

Pu Yuan Restaurant @ Old Klang Road

I apologize that my blog has been revolving around food excursions of late. But I just have to archive this down, as this month's gathering with the gang saw us celebrating two of our very dear friends' (have to put 'dear', if not later people merajuk... hehe) birthday! Let me do a note-style post this time 'round. I'd spent the past half an hour (or more) loading the numerous photos below, and looking at the time now [timecheck - 11:59pm], I should be catching some sleep on my bed, so I'm gonna make it quick! Haha. So here are the photos... caption & food review to come once I've gotten the name of dishes sorted out. Haha!

Entrance of Pu Yuan Restaurant. Pretty secluded, it doesn't even show on Google Map. Haha.

Above & Below: Scores & scores of achievement for the restaurant. There's been many reviews in newspapers & magazines to date. Even appeared & featured on the tv-based eating-guide show Ho Chak!

From here onwards... dishes we ordered :

By the looks of the number of dishes we ordered, no one would've believed if we were to claim we're small-eaters. Count all above (I'd just counted. There were "10". TEN!! For goodness sake!), add that with another "1", 'coz we actually ordered a second helping of one of those. Aren't we a happy, satisfied bunch of eaters? ;-)

Above & Below : The birthday celebrities (left-Fion, right-Ivan) for the day, with the durian cake (yummy, I tell 'ya!) and pressies.

What's a gathering without a group photo session to end with?!

Us with the aftermath of our satisfied dinner. (Left-right : Gjen Gkai, Ivan, Sean, Boon Chin, Fion, Shong Yong, Myself!)

Us at the entrance of Pu Yuan (had to take this as proof that we were there!).

Blood Test Effect

They're having an annual Safety & Health Week over at my office. So Gribbles was one of the invited guests/participants for the event this time around. They were there to set up a booth to conduct simple health checks for a minimum fee of RM20 (includes BMI, blood pressure, Body Fat Mass Index, blood test - for Cholesterol & Glucose level). Will be getting my results for the blood test by end of this week. But anyway... here's what I got after blood's pumped out into a syringe. For the record, it (the blood test) was yesterday, alright. And my hand today is still as shown in this picture... ish!

* p/s : Trust me, it looks rather black-blue-ish from the naked eyes... haha

Senjyu Sushi @ Cineleisure Damansara

My other-half and I don't get to meet often. It's what you get with every long distance relationship. But when we do meet, it usually revolves around having good food for the weekend. And by good food, I mean Jap food in most cases. Haha. Jap food practically unites us. Haha. Big statement there. BC once asked if we have anything at all in common, to which I thought real hard and said "Errr.. we both loved Jap food?" Such depth, huh? =D But hey, I thought I'd go and ask him that very same question that night, so I went "So, if I were to ask you, what do we both have in common, what would you say ah?". I'd thought he'd surprised me with some very impressive answers. But guess what he came out with? He went, "Hmm.. we like to have Jap food lor!" Haha. Talk about common now...

So anyway, this time's Jap food-excursion brought us to....

Senjyu Sushi in Cineleisure Damansara! They have another outlet in Sunway Pyramid too...

Took random shots while waiting for our orders...

My Soft Shell Crab handroll...

Some Wagyu Beef slice sushi.... (don't laugh at the name... I don't remember the exact name already laaa...)

Our assorted sushi plate...

He had the Tempura Udon set... complete with salad & chawanmushi...

Maguro maki...

Mixed Sake & Maguro Maki (something like that la.. haha)

I think I missed out on a lot more other food photos. And I'd wanted to take shapshots of the interior & ambience, but... my faithful N73ME camera phone had to kept prompting me 'Memory low'. Too bad lah. Next time lah, okie? :D
